ESUR is pleased to honor a researcher who has significantly advanced basic, translational or clinical urological research on the basis of the following criteria:

• continuous contribution to urological research as evidenced by publications in high quality journals and presentations at international conferences with an independent program committee
• discoveries in urological science that influenced work of other scientists in the field
• successful acquisition of research funds
• evidence for successful supervision and training of students and post-doctoral scientists
• contributions to European Urological science through ESUR or EAU

1st European Society for Urological Research Distinguished Award Dominique Chopin sponsored by Elli Lilly and Company is given to Professor Jan Trapman, Erasmus University Rotterdam for his contributions in science and European Urology networks.

The recipient of the 2nd Dominique Chopin ESUR Distinguished Award is Prof. Norman Maitland, University of York. Professor Maitland is honoured for his research in the field of prostate cell biology and contributions to European scientific networks.
